Davis, Stephen, CAR, RB

Friday, December 02, 10:25 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: The Star reports Stephen Davis will accept whatever role the Carolina Panthers have in store for him for the rest of the season. "As long as I'm getting opportunities to make plays, helping the team win, that's the most important thing," said Davis.

Source: SportsTicker

Friday, December 02, 12:14 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Steve Reed, of the Shelby Star, reports Carolina Panthers RB Stephen Davis said he is ready to accept whatever role the team has in store for him for the rest of the season. Although he still wants to be the primary ball carrier, Davis said Thursday, Dec. 1, he would be all right if the Panthers decide to use him similar to how the Pittsburgh Steelers use RB Jerome Bettis, which is mostly inside the opponent's 20-yard line and in short-yardage and goal-line situations. Davis said head coach John Fox spoke to him about his role recently, but the running back offered little insight into the conversation. "As long as I'm getting opportunities to make plays, helping the team win, that's the most important thing," said Davis.

Source: KFFL

Tuesday, November 29, 1:56 PM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Coach John Fox insisted Monday that the Panthers had not moved DeShaun Foster ahead of Davis as their primary running back, the Charlotte Observer reports.

Fantasy Analysis: That said, it's clear that Davis' role has diminished. The past two weeks, Davis has only 10 carries compared to Foster's 32. Fox downplayed the pattern of going away from Davis though, saying, "(it's) no more of a trend than when Stephen had more carries than DeShaun earlier in the year. As much as people on the outside want to make a big deal about a change, there really isn't." Look for Fox to continue to use both backs, with Davis' best chance of making a fantasy impact being in short-yardage situations.

Tuesday, November 29, 12:00 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Even though Stephen Davis had just nine carries compared to the 22 DeShaun Foster had Sunday, coach John Fox said Foster hasn't taken over as the Panthers' primary running back, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Taylor, Fred, JAC, RB

Friday, December 02, 10:30 PM EST (Week 13)

News Story: The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (ankle) will miss the Week 13 game and RB Greg Jones will start in his place. Head coach Jack Del Rio said, "Fred is getting better, it's week to week, but he's not going to make it this week. We both agreed that it would be best to give it a little more time. We are expecting him back this season." Taylor hasn't played since Week 11 and claims he was not 100 percent healthy then. Taylor said, "Looking back at Tennessee, it wasn't the smartest thing to do. Whenever I'm healthy enough to go, I'll be out there. The ankle is still sore, but it's a lot better than it was."

Friday, December 02, 7:21 PM EST (Week 13)

Friday, December 02, 5:03 PM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio announced Friday that Taylor will not suit up for Sunday's game against Cleveland, the Associated Press reports.

Fantasy Analysis: Taylor suffered an ankle injury on Nov. 6 against Houston. Since then, he has played just once, against Tennessee. "Fred is getting better, it's week-to-week, but he's not going to make it this week," Del Rio said. "We both agreed that it would be best to give it a little more time. We are expecting him back this season." Greg Jones will get the start at running back in place of Taylor on Sunday.

News Story: Coach Jack Del Rio, who decided last Thursday to rule Taylor (ankle, probable) out of last Sunday's game, said he will wait until Friday to address the running back's status for Week 13, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Fantasy Analysis: Del Rio said he doesn't want to wait until Sunday to make a decision on Taylor's status. Not that Del Rio is making the call Friday to keep fantasy owners in the loop, but it will be good to have this situation clarified one way or the other well before game time.

Just like last week, Taylor is listed as probable on the team's weekly injury report.

Friday, December 02, 12:00 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio is expected to announce the status of Fred Taylor today, according to the Florida Times-Union. Del Rio said he doesn't want to wait until Sunday to make a decision on Taylor's status because it's too easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment on game day. Taylor has been dealing with an ankle injury.

Friday, December 02, 12:00 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Fred Taylor will miss his third game in the last four weeks this Sunday with his ankle injury, according to the AP. We are expecting him back this season." Taylor suffered the injury on Nov. 6 against Houston.

News Story: While Taylor (ankle/thigh) practiced Wednesday and is listed as probable on the Jaguars' injury report, coach Jack Del Rio would not say if Taylor would play Sunday against the Browns, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Fantasy Analysis: "We'll determine that as the week goes on," Del Rio said. "I remain hopeful. Taylor was held out of Week 12's game against Arizona because Del Rio wanted to improve the running back's conditioning for the stretch run. We'll monitor this situation closely in upcoming days.

Thursday, December 01, 12:16 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: The Times-Union reports Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio didn't reveal much about Fred Taylor's (ankle) status for Week 13, although he's listed as probable on the injury report. "I visited with Fred and told him, 'Let's make sure that we work on the conditioning, on the timing, on all the things that he needs to do to be 100 percent' and he agreed," Del Rio said. "So we're on the same page and we're working toward that so that he can help our football team win."

News Story: Coach Jack Del Rio did not indicate Monday if Taylor (ankle) would return to the Jaguars' lineup Sunday at Cleveland, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Fantasy Analysis: Taylor, who has been bothered by ankle and thigh issues this season, practiced all last week but sat out Week 12's game against the Cardinals because Del Rio said he wants to improve Taylor's conditioning for the team's stretch run. "I visited with Fred and told him, 'Let's make sure that we work on the conditioning, on the timing, on all the things that he needs to do to be 100 percent'...and he agreed," Del Rio said. Wednesday, November 30, 6:34 AM EST (Week 13)

News Story: Del Rio did not indicate Monday if running back Fred Taylor would return to the lineup Sunday at Cleveland. Taylor practiced all last week but sat out against the Cardinals because Del Rio said he wants to improve Taylor's conditioning for the December stretch run in the wake of recent ankle and thigh injuries. "I visited with Fred and told him, 'Let's make sure that we work on the conditioning, on the timing, on all the things that he needs to do to be 100 percent' ... and he agreed,'' Del Rio said. "So we're on the same page and we're working toward that so that he can help our football team win."

Fantasy Analysis: Earlier in the week we were under the impression that Taylor would be back in the starting lineup. Now we have some questions whether that will happen. It sounds like we will not know for sure until later in the week.
