Scoring System
Previous  Top  Next

This screen is where you enter your league's scoring system. To set up a scoring rule, first choose the position that the rule will apply to. Then pick a scoring category. If there is currently a scoring rule for the choosen scoring category for the selected position, it will be displayed. If not, the Scoring Method field will display "None Defined". To enter a scoring rule for the selected position/scoring category, choose a scoring method. To view all the scoring categories supported by Fantasy Commissioner Web, click on this link.

The four possible scoring methods:

·None Defined - This means the scoring rule is not defined. All the scoring categories default to this. If you setup a scoring rule and then later want to delete it, just set the scoring category to None Defined
·Points Per Each - Use this scoring method to give points for each occurance of a stat. For example, 3 points for a passing TD, 6 points for a receiving TD, 1 point for each rushing attempt, 2 points for each receiving two-points convertion, etc.
·Incremental - This scoring method allows you to give points whenever a set incremental level is reached for a stat. For example, 1 point for every 20 yards passing, 1 point for every 10 yards rushing, 1 point for every 5 rushing attempts, etc. Using the above examples, assume that a player's stats for a game are 2 passing TD's, 312 yards passing, and 32 yards rushing. He receives 12 fantasy points for the passing TD's (2 * 6 = 12), 15.6 fantasy points for the passing yardage (312 / 20 = 15.6), and 3.2 fantasy points for the rushing yards (32 / 10), for a total of 30.8 (12 + 15.6 + 3.2 = 30.8).
·Range - Use this option if you award points based on bonus performance (i.e., you award fantasy points based on the length of a TD, or you award points based on reaching yardage milestones in a game). A bonus performance based scoring system would, for example, award 3 points on a rushing TD if it were between 1-20 yards, it would award 4 points if the TD were between 21-50 yards, and 5 points if it were greater than 50 yards. Another example, using passing yardage for an entire game, would award 0 points if a player were to pass for fewer than 200 yards, 5 points were he to pass for between 200-250 yards, and 10 points were his passing total to exceed 250 yards. A final example, this one using rushing attempts, would be to award 1 point for 1-5 attempts in a game, 2 points for 6-10 attempts, 3 points for 11-20 attempts, and 5 points for more than 20 attempts. When choosing this option, you will see a spreadsheet-like table where you may enter the fantasy scoring for the selected stat. Click on the "New Row" button to add additional rows to the table. There are three column headings: "Starting Value," "Ending Value," and "Points." Enter the fantasy points awarded if the stat for a game is in a given range (inclusive). With passing yards, for example, in the first row, entering 1 in the starting value column, 199 in the ending value column, and 5 in the points column will award a player 5 fantasy points if he passes between 1 and 199 yards in a game. In the second row of the table, entering 200 in the starting value column and 299 in the ending value column and 10 in the points column will award a player 10 fantasy points if he passes for between 200 and 299 yards in a game. Continue until you enter all possible fantasy values for a given stat. It is not necessary to enter a value for those ranges receiving 0 points. If a player receives a stat not found in any of the scoring ranges, he will receive 0 fantasy points for that stat.
·Auto-Populate Grid Button – This button will help simplify the entering of a Range scoring system. Clicking on this button will prompt you to fill out a screen with info about your league rules for the selected stat category. Based on your responses, the grid will automatically be filled with the scoring ranges for the current stat category. Use this button to speed-up the entry of your leagues scoring rules.

There is a "Copy to all positions" button: If players are awarded the same number of points regardless of NFL position, just enter the scoring system for one position. Then, click the "Copy to all positions" button to copy the scoring system for the current position to all the other positions.

There is also a "Test Scoring" link on this page. Use this to test the currently selected scoring category. A pop-up window will display and will show you the points awarded for each possible yardage/quantity.

To see the scoring rules already entered, check out the Scoring System
report.

NOTE: The Defensive team can be used as a Defensive Team/Special Team combination. If that is what your league uses, just set up the DT position to also get points for special team scores. Do not indicate in the Player Positions screen that you are using a ST position.
